Back in January author Emily Giffin posted some beautiful art work on her Facebook page. Being a sucker for sketches and watercolors, I had to investigate further. The talented Inslee Haynes was the genius behind the art that now adorns the home page of Ms. Giffin’s website. My creative wheels were turning when I saw that she accepted commissioned projects! I was hesitant to inquire as Inslee is a fashion artist. A fashionista I am not! Far from it, actually. Fingers crossed, email sent. That evening I got her reply: “I’d be happy to…! Your idea sounds so cute, can’t wait to get started!” I forwarded my headshot, a few images of Herbie and a couple of suggestions.
A few days later, voila! An adorable sketch of me and my most photographed subject. I was ecstatic! However, my very literal 9 year old pointed out that the artist got my legs wrong:) This is what happens when you commission a fashion artist and purposely send only a headshot. Perhaps a little incentive to get back in the gym…
In order to keep up with the overwhelming repsonse for portrait photography we had this fall, Katie and I are sticking to the original plan for our joint venture as a wedding & engagement studio. It’s an exciting time for both of us as we launch our individual branding & portrait sites! I thought this sketch was uniquely me and would make a fun, fresh statment on a business card.
Inslee…you were delightful to work with! Thank you! I love reading your daily blog posts. They’re a treat for the eyes.
